Shina Peller’s Sponsored NUJ Ramadan Lecture, Iftar Hold In Ibadan Tomorrow

The Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), Oyo State Council, in partnership with renowned entrepreneur and statesman, Hon. Shina Peller, is set to host its 2026 Annual Ramadan Lecture and Iftar tomorrow, Saturday, February 28, 2026.


The event, which has become a significant tradition for media practitioners in the state, will take place at the NUJ Press Centre, located in the Iyaganku area of Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.

This year’s edition (the 8th) continues Hon. Shina Peller’s long-standing commitment to the welfare and spiritual upliftment of journalists. The annual gathering serves as a platform for reflection, spiritual rejuvenation, and the strengthening of professional bonds among members of the fourth estate of the realm during the holy month of Ramadan.

The organizers have announced Dr. Adam Akewula, an Associate Professor of Arabic and Islamic Studies at the University of Ibadan, as the guest lecturer for the occasion.

Dr. Akewula, a respected scholar and orator, will deliver a sermon titled: “Islamic Perspective: Role of Journalist in Promoting Peace and Security in the Society.”

The choice of topic comes at a critical time in the nation’s history, highlighting the pivotal role of the media in shaping public discourse and safeguarding national stability. The lecture is expected to explore how journalists can utilize ethical reporting and Islamic principles to mitigate conflict and foster a more secure environment for all citizens.

Speaking on the upcoming event, the chairman of the NUJ Oyo State Council, Akeem Abass, expressed the council’s gratitude to Hon. Shina Peller for his unwavering support of the union.

The program will culminate in the communal breaking of the fast (Iftar), where journalists, religious leaders, and public figures will share a meal in the spirit of Ramadan.
