The police in Ondo state have confirmed the abduction of six worshippers by gunmen at a celestial church in Uso community, Owo Local Government Area of the State.
A statement by the police public relations officer, PPRO, DSP Abayomi Jimoh explained that the six worshippers were kidnapped at a Celestial Church located along the Uso/Owo Expressway in Uso.
DSP Jimoh said the incident occured yesterday night while the church was having a programme.
According to the PPRO, one of the victims has been rescued through a joint efforts of the Police and the Army.
DSP Jimoh however disclosed that one person linked with the abduction had been arrested while security operations are ongoing to rescue the victims.
The police urged residents to remain calm and vigilant while efforts were on to rescue the remaining five victims.
