The Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin, on Tuesday led a delegation of the House on a condolence visit to the family of late Ambassador Ibironke Adefope at their residence in New Bodija, Ibadan.
The delegation was received by Ms. Tara Adefope, Director General of the Oyo State Due Process Office who is the daughter of the late Ambassador, and other family members.

During the visit, the Speaker described the passing of Amb. Adefope as a monumental loss to Oyo State and Nigeria as a whole.

He said her remarkable contributions to diplomacy, governance, and community development remain indelible.
“Ambassador Ibironke Adefope was a beacon of patriotism and excellence,” Rt. Hon. Ogundoyin stated.
“Her life was one of selfless service and inspiring leadership. We have come today not only to mourn but to celebrate the legacy of a great daughter of Ibadanland.”
The Speaker extolled the deceased’s virtues as a woman of intellect, grace, and national service, noting her roles as Nigeria’s High Commissioner to Zambia and Malawi, as well as her place in the lineage of the iconic Chief Meredith Adisa Akinloye.
He extended heartfelt condolences to Governor Seyi Makinde, the Eegunjenmi family of Itutaba, Oje, and the entire Adefope family, urging them to take solace in the impactful life Amb. Adefope lived.
Ms. Tara Adefope, while expressing appreciation on behalf of the family, thanked the Speaker and the lawmakers for their visit and solidarity at a time of deep mourning.
Members of the delegation offered prayers for the repose of her soul and for strength and comfort for the bereaved family during this difficult period.
