Three hundred and nine officers of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Oyo State command have been promoted and decorated.
The event which was held at the Corps headquarters, Agodi was graced by families and friends of the newly elevated officers.
While decorating the newly promoted officers, NSCDC Commandant in Oyo state, Mr Augustine Padonu said promotion represents not just an elevation in rank but a call to higher responsibilities.
“As you receive these new ranks today, remember that you are being entrusted with greater responsibilities in service to our Nation.
“Remember the word of Martin Luther King JR, that says the ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy “
Mr Padonu also called on the newly promoted officers to demonstrate enhanced commitment to duty, show exceptional leadership qualities as well as maintaining the highest standards of discipline in achieving the corps’ mandate of protecting lives and property and safeguarding critical infrastructure.
The NSCDC boss urged the officers and men of the corps to always be professional in the discharge of their duty whenever they are on the field.
One of the newly promoted officers, the present public relations officer of the Corps, Mr Samuel Opebiyi, who was promoted to the rank of Superintendent of Corps, gave Glory to God and pledged to continue to work harder in uplifting the NSCDC vision and mission.
Another promoted officer, Mr Uthman Oluokun who was promoted to the rank of deputy superintendents of the Corps noted that he would not relent on his oars in contributing meaningful to achieving the corps objectives.
The event was also graced by representatives of other security agencies in Oyo state.
