Education is a major key to achieving the dream of every child.
Acting Executive Director of a non-governmental organisation, NGO, Mentoring Assistance for Youths and Entrepreneurs Initiative, MAYEIN, Mrs Ewa Orowale stated this while addressing journalists in commemoration of this year’s International Day of the Girl Child.
She noted that the Girl-child was not given equal opportunity to education as their male counterparts which often times thwarted their dreams.
‘We need decision makers to incorporate girls views into education planning and implementation which will help not only enrollment but also retention and completion of secondary school.
Contributing, a board member of the organisation, Mrs Ibiyemi Ifatoretimi who pointed out that empowering a girl-child, was empowering a nation, called for collective efforts at ensuring sustainable and qualitative education for the girl-child.
“No stone should be left unturned at ensuring all school age girls are in school fulfilling their potentials.
”MAYEIN has successfully identified the gaps and working assiduously to fill it up with assistance of relevant stakeholder”.
“Many girls had no knowledge of their rights, lacked confidence/individuality and couldn’t communicate effectively with adults in their lives”.
The theme of this year’s International Day of the girl child is” Girls Vision for the Future”
MAYEIN is a non-governmental organisation established in 2012 and launched its Girls in Education Dialogues Project in 2022 after noticeable gap in access and inclusion in education policies in Oyo State.
