Court Remands Osun Traditional Ruler, 4 Others

Oba Muideen Azeez, the Elegbedi of Egbedi in Osun State, together with four other individuals, have been remanded to the Ife Correctional Center on charges of arson and destroying crops and farms valued at N200 million.

Sarafadeen Abioye, Rasidi Ayandiran, Yisa Akolapo, and Akibu Abioye are the other accused.

The five were placed under detention after they did not meet the deadline set by the State High Court in Ede for the completion of their bail requirements.

The five individuals had been given N5 million bail each, with two sureties, by Judge Kudirat Akano.

While the first type of the sureties must be level 16 public servant with landed property within the court jurisdiction, the other sureties are part 2 monarchs.

Recalled that the defendant were arraigned on 27th June, 2024, on 29 counts of arson, destruction of farmland, illegal possession of firearms and robbery.
