A 43-year-old a mortuary attendant, Johnson Daniel has been arrested in the Ipetu Ijesa area of Osun state for allegedly cutting and selling dead body parts to native doctors.
Osun state Deputy Police Public Relations Officer in Osun state, Mr. Giwa-Alade Emmanuel while parading the suspect among other suspected criminals in the state at the police headquarters, Osogbo said Johnson Daniel specialized in the act to make money.
He explained that the native doctors were also arrested at different locations and we’re part of the suspects paraded alongside Johnson Daniel.
The DPPRO further noted that Daniel sold the dead body parts to his clients who have become regular customers.
Mr. Emmanuel mentioned the names of the buyers to include Olaniyi Azeez (65), Balogun Asimiyu (40), Oladapo Hammed (35), Kazeem Rasak (28) and Asaka Raufu (40).
“The above named suspects were arrested upon a credible information from a good spirited individual that, one Johnson Daniel ‘m’ a mortuary attendant at lpetu-ljesa sells portions of human remains deposited at the mortuary to native doctors whose names are listed above.” He said
“The said suspects use these remains gotten from the mortuary attendant (Johnson Daniel) for different ritual purposes” He concluded
He stressed that another mortuary attendant, Adetunji Okunade 42 years , conspired with Daniel to sell remnants of water used in bathing corpses to interested native doctors.
Mr. Emmanuel who noted that the suspects have been charged to court said other items recovered from him were Bone fragments, a pair of pants and a notebook.
