Makinde Announces Homecoming After Vacation, Promises To Tackle Pressing Issues
Following a four-week vacation, Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde has declared his homecoming and said he was rejuvenated and prepared to carry on serving the people of Oyo State.
Governor Makinde also announced that he will be resuming for work on Monday, September 9, 2024.
Governor Makinde, who began a four-week vacation on August 5 and ended on September 6, 2024, delegated his responsibilities to Deputy Governor Bayo Lawal during the vacation.
In his biweekly newsletter on Thursday night, governor Makinde thanked Barrister Bayo Lawal, the acting governor, for maintaining governance during his absence.
“We have some pending decisions to take, especially with the recent increase in fuel price. Rest assured that whatever decisions we take will be in the best interests of our people and the Oyo State economy,” Governor Makinde said.
He further hinted at upcoming projects in the agribusiness and tourism sectors, stating that they will be flagged off and commissioned in October. “They are projects that we all will be proud of,” he assured.
As he resumed office, Governor Makinde expressed optimism, saying, “May we never lose real hope.” He promised to continue working for the people of Oyo State and to keep them updated on his activities.
The governor expressed that he will tackle pressing issues, including the recent fuel price increase, and to launch new projects aimed at boosting the state’s economy.
