NLC Protest: Oyo Governor, Seyi Makinde Shows Solidarity

Engr. Seyi Makinde, the governor of Oyo State on Wednesday joined demonstrators who were protesting in Ibadan over the hardship and the deteriorating economic situation in the country .

Members of the NLC in Oyo state in compliance to the directive started the protest from their Agodi secretariat, marching towards Mokola roundabout, expressing their grievances with chants like “Ebi npa wa o,” translating to “we are hungry.”

Governor Makinde later joined the protesters, appealing for patience and a peaceful exercise.

He urged all parties to work together to find solutions to the hardship occasioned by the fuel subsidy removal and the high rate of exchange, expressing hope that the situation can be turned around.

‘There is hunger and hardship in the land. We must do something about it.”

Governor Makinde noted that the worsening economic situation is not unique to Oyo State, but rather a nationwide issue.

He called on the federal government to take action to alleviate the suffering of the people, emphasizing the need for policies that promote growth and job creation.

Recalled that the NLC declared a 2-day nationwide strike which will hold today and tomorrow – February 27 and 28, 2028.
