Following a committee report on verification scrutinization and clean up of state payroll, the Ondo state governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu has ordered the immediate sack of some workers who are getting double salaries from the state payroll.
The governor also ordered the immediate stoppage and distribution of new appointments and redeployments letters within the workforce.
The committee was headed by a retired permanent secretary, Mr Victor Olajorin and was submitted to the governor at the governor’s office .
Governor Akeredolu who gave the order after recieving the report, expressed disheartening at the increasing numbers of ghost workers in the state work force
Earlier, chairman of the committee, Mr Victor Olajorin said the state had lost fortunes in the hands of ghost workers who were feeding fat on the resources of the state.
Mr Olajorin explained that “other investigation done during the verification exposed leave of absence without due permission while it was also discovered that some retired officers were still receiving salaries”
