Impeachment: Chief Kayode Christopher Heads Seven Man Panel To Investigate Oyo Deputy Governor
Chief Kayode Christopher has been appointed as the chairman of the seven-man panel that will investigate the deputy governor of Oyo state, Engineer Rauf Olaniyan.
Chief Christopher was inaugurated on Thursday alongside six other members by the state Chief judge, Justice Munta Abimbola.
Other members of the panel were Arc. Adebisi Soyombo; Chief Lawal Adekunle Dauda; Princess Olanike Olusegun; Rev Fr. Patrick Ademola; Chief Mrs Wuraola Adepoju (JP); and Alh. Tirimisiyu Akewusola Badmus.
The inauguration of the panel followed the directive of the Oyo state house of assembly on the CJ to set up a seven man panel to investigate a seven point allegations levelled against Engineer Olaniyan in a petition signed by a number of lawmakers.
Justice Abimbola described members of the panel as people of unquestionable integrity, not being members of any public service, legislative house or political parties.
Justice Abimbola urged members of the panel to have the fear of God, act in accordance with their conscience and to be fair and just in the discharge of their duties.
He said The delay in the inauguration of the members of the panel was due to the pending suit initiated by Olaniyan against the impeachment process, which judgement was delivered on Thursday, by Justice Ladiran Akintola, who dismissed the suit.
According to the directive of the State assembly, the panel has three months to submit its report.
