2027: Ex Oyo Deputy Governor Declares Ambition

In a move that cleared all speculations about his governorship ambition, Engr. Rauf Aderemi Olanyan, a former deputy governor of Oyo state, has formally declared his ambition to run for the gubernatorial race in the state in 2027.

Engineer Olaniyan made the declaration at the Oorelope Local Government chapter of the All Progressives’ Congress (APC) general meeting, held at Baptist High School, Igboho, on Tuesday, 10th June, 2025.

Engr. Olaniyan, the Igboho born politician, who is a retired permanent secretary, renditioned party members and the general audience with a thought-provoking struggles of notable Oke-Ogun sons who have made concerted efforts in the past to govern the pacesetter state without success, starting from the second republic up till today.

Olaniyan reiterated that the notable politicians from Oke Ogun were qualified but for the unfortunate tyranny of the geography of their birth.

He said the time to break the chain is now, as the state should rise to the occasion and enhance the nation’s democracy by allowing for balance, equity and fairness in power sharing and opportunity distribution, so that every part of the state can experience development and transformation.

He said that his ambition is driven by passion for service, social reengineering, development and prosperity for all in Oyo state.

He stated his desire to bring his expertise, professionalism and rich experience in human and resources management to position the state for greater heights.

He called for support, prayers and solidarity as a servant who has no power except as given by the people through their ballot mandate.
