The motorcade of Mrs. Kafayat Oyetola, the wife of the governor of Osun state, was ambushed by suspected political thugs.
The attack that happened at Owode-Ede market on Friday night left several of the security officers in the convoy with injuries of various severity.
According to a witness, the truck abruptly obstructed the convoy’s path as it was passing through the market at 8 o’clock in the evening.
According to the witness, the thugs who were already in the vicinity began attacking the convoy with stones and potentially deadly weapons, which prompted the security personnel to open fire.
They broke some of the vehicles’ windows during the attack, which spread terror throughout the neighborhood.
Tunmise Iluyomade, a first lady’s assistant, confirmed the event but would not specify how many security people were hurt.
“All I can say is that there were no casualties in the incident. I’m not sure how many security personnel were hurt, but some of them who were working with the convoy suffered various degrees of damage.
