According to Flamingos head coach Olowookere Bankole, the team is ready for its last group stage match against tournament rookie Chile.
On Monday afternoon at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar, the Nigeria U-17 Women’s National Team will take on Chile.
Coach Bankole discussed the team’s readiness for the match with NFF TV after the Flamingos’ final practice on Sunday night.
“Since we played New Zealand, we have been completely prepared. As you can see in our final session, we are currently trying to strategize the loopholes. We begin with the mindset that we need to win Chile in order to advance to the next stage.
“Even though we won against New Zealand that does not say all is well, there were some other lapses, we lost many chances and then there were some loose markings so we need to work on all those at once. So I think we have done that, hopefully we’ll be able to respond very well when it comes to the game time,” He said.
The Flamingos were wasteful in front of goals against New Zealand on Friday, even though they ended scoring four goals, and coach Olowookere highlighted the possible solutions to resolving the team’s missed chances.
“Yeah, that’s what we are known for, right from our qualifying matches except the one we played against Ethiopia. We’ll still see one or two misses because these are girls that are just coming up but the most important thing I am praying for is for them to create more chances out of the chances they create they will be able to score goals so we try as much as possible to minimise our waste so that we don’t regret it,” Coach Bankole concluded.
