On Monday morning, there was unrest at the Kuje Correctional Center when prisoners demonstrated against the passing of a fellow inmate.
It was learned that the inmate’s death, who apparently did not receive prompt medical assistance, set off the unrest.
Additionally, it was learned that several prisoners made an attempt to flee the jail facility during the tense situation but were stopped by the warders.
Prison officials told journalists that the convict had passed away.
“The guy has been sick for weeks now, but the situation deteriorated last night and the wardens refused to attend to him until he gave up the ghost around 6:28 am this morning,” a prison official also told SaharaReporters.
