As Nigeria mark this year’s teacher’s day, teachers in Oyo State have been advised to rise to the transformation of education through effective teaching, impartation of moral values, thorough and fair evaluation of learners.
Oyo State Chairperson, Academic Staff Union of Secondary Schools, ASUSS, Mrs Ranti Oluwemimo gave the advise in a statement signed by the secretary, Mr Ayo Adekunle,
Mrs Oluwemimo who said teachers should continue to discharge their duties without fear or favor, campaigned against examination malpractices which she said has eaten deep into our educational system.
“Let us strive to improve our knowledge in line with contemporary teaching strategies, curriculum development and content delivery” she said
The ASUSS Chairperson said It was important for teachers to stay healthy and observe regular medical checkup to enable them to transform education.
“Let all teachers take their health issues with all seriousness by observing regular medical check-up in recognized or specialised hospitals. We need to stay healthy and alive to be able to transform education.” She explained
While appreciating Oyo State governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde for his teacher’s friendly policies, Mrs Oluwemimo called on government at all levels to transform the lives of teachers by making lives more comfortable and putting programmes in place for training and retraining of teachers for them to be excellent transformers.
“ASUSS equally appreciates the amiable Governor of Oyo State for being teacher friendly and for his unrelenting efforts at transforming education in Oyo State.”
“ASUSS noted with keen interest the passion of His Excellency for the development and transformation of education in Oyo State and assured the Governor of the support of the dynamic members of the Academic Staff Union of Secondary Schools. As we transform education , we call on government at all levels to transform the lives of teachers by making lives more comfortable for teachers and put programmes in place for training and retraining of teachers for them to be excellent transformers”.
