Suspects Who Raped Two Daughters During Robbery In Ibadan Arrested

The police in Oyo state has paraded four self confessed suspected rapists and murderers who have been terrorizing residents in Akobo area of Ibadan.

The suspects were paraded alongside other suspected criminals by the police public relations officer in oyo state, Mr Adewale Osifeso at police headquarters Eleyele Ibadan.

Mr Osifeso said a group of armed robbers invaded Apaatuku/Onireke at Akobo area in Ibadan and robbed residents of their valuables and also killed one Makanjuola Ogedengbe after raping his two daughters aged 14yrs and 10yrs respectively during the incident.

He said During investigation, it was revealed that one Ibrahim Rasaq ‘m’ 31yrs, one Abiodun Olalekan ‘m’ 32yrs, and one Abolade Morenikeji ‘m’ 34yrs, who were earlier arrested in connection with the armed robbery operation at Sawia Estate at Ogbere in Ibadan, which was reported on 16 April 2023, were the same gang who invaded Apaatuku/Onireke community.

He said the two raped daughters of the deceased were allegedly raped by Abolade Morenikeji ‘m’ and one Sodiq ‘m’ respectively.

“The said Sodiq, who was the group’s alleged leader was killed in the operation by the community security guards. The assailants also shot at the community’s night guard who is currently receiving treatment.”

“one Adebayo Salami ‘m’ who is a major receiver/informant of the group and landlord at Ajara Olohunda, Akobo in Ibadan was arrested in connection with the case. During interrogation, he confessed to have invited the group for the robbery operation at the Apatuku area where one Makanjuola Ogedengbe ‘m’ was killed and his two daughters ages 14 and 10 was defiled by the robbery gang during the operation.”

The police spokesman said all the suspects would soon be charged to court after proper investigations.

He stated further that the Command through Smart Inter-Agency Collaborations and dogged determination has never rescinded on its oars to ensure that the State does not become a playground to hoodlums and sinister minded individuals.

Mr Osifeso said the period in view has provided opportunities for review and closure of some of the cases under Investigation and as well provided leads to others under close monitoring and observation.

He assured the general public that adequate preparations have been emplaced towards the success of the annual Egungun festivities.

“As we know it, the Festival is usually characterized by lots of aesthetics, fun fair and rich Cultural displays embedded in pomp and pageantry.

” In another dimension, and concerned with the unpleasant rise in cases of avoidable traffic accidents caused by deliberate recklessness especially driving against traffic (One-way) hereby endangering the lives of other road users and good citizens, the Oyo State Police Command in concert with relevant Sister Security Agencies have concluded plans to clampdown on defaulters with assurances of heavy sanctions regardless association or affiliations”.

” In addition, residents over the weekend shall witness Security patrols, intensified stop & search at designated points across the state and continuous raids of black spot all in a bid to maintain the tempo of the State’s signature relative tranquility.”

Mr Osifeso noted that Area Commanders have been given express directives to be proactive and to secure all critical infrastructures within their areas of jurisdiction to include Media Houses, places of worship, Train stations, Banks, Schools, Correctional facilities, entry & exit points in and out of the State not leaving out the Parks and Garages.
