Residents Groan As OYSROMA Inspects Roads With Potholes In Ibadan

The Oyo State government has issued a warning to residents of the state not to throw their trash into the waterways stressing that such act is harmful to the road. ​

Honorable Ogunlade Soladoye, the chairman of the Oyo State Road Maintenance Agency (OYSROMA), issued the warning on Thursday while inspecting the roads around the city of Ibadan with a team of engineers and agency management.

Hon. Ogunlade mentioned that the tour was required as a result of numerous complaints about potholes on different roads made by residents on radio and the Oyo state Government Feedback on social media platforms.

Residents of Oyo state, including Ibadan and environs have been experiencing difficult times plying major roads within the city as a result of potholes that have become unattended to.

Newsarena.ng gathered that Many car owners and motorists are however groaning, as the development has contributed greatly to heavy traffic within Ibadan.

According to Ogunlade, the government has spent a significant amount of money on road improvements, and in order for the roads to last, adequate maintenance must be carried out by both the government and the project’s primary benefactors who are the inhabitants.

He explained that rehabilitation would start as soon as possible and pledged that the agency, under his direction, would strictly follow the current government’s policy of “Operation Zero Tolerance for Potholes” throughout the State.

“When roads are constructed and become motorable, investors would be willing to invest in the State’s economy, thereby creating job opportunities for the teeming youths in the State and this agency, under my supervision, will adhere strictly to the present government’s policy of ‘Operation Zero Tolerance for Potholes’ across the State, adding that rehabilitation would commence in due course.”

Among the roads inspected were Liberty Road, Molete-Challenge Road, and Mobil-Oluyole-Apata Roads.

He also gave the order to draft the BEME (Bill of Engineering Measurement and Evaluation) in order to fix the roads’ damaged sections right away.
