Oyo College Of Agric. Investigates Alleged Rape Case, Advises Students To Eschew Indiscipline

Following the information received by the Management of Oyo State College of Agriculture and Technology, Igboora through a radio programme in which a student of the institution alleged that she was raped by a ‘yahoo boy’ through the connivance of a student of the institution; the management immediately directed that the matter be investigated.

This is contained in a statement made available to newsarena.ng by the college’s public relations officer, Mrs Opeyemi Olawoore

The statement reads “Similarly, the victim who is our student and her mother visited the institution on Tuesday, September 13, 2022 to formally lodge the complaint”.

“Upon cross examination, it was discovered that our student who was fingered in the matter did not perpetrate the act but was considered as accomplice because he offered a lift to the victim since they reside in the same area and it was in the vehicle that she met the boy who later carried out the odious act.”

“Since the matter had been reported to the appropriate security agency, both the perpetrator and accomplice have been apprehended by the Nigeria Police Force and they are being interrogated.”

The statement therefore advises students to be more vigilant and eschew all forms indiscipline that may expose them to the inhuman and gender based violence ravaging the society.

It says despite the off-campus policy on students accommodation, the institution regularly parley the host community towards achieving harmonious relationship with our students.

“The institution does not harbor indiscipline and has the right to punish any students that violates rules and regulations”.

“It should be noted, therefore, that the institution will not renege on its mandate of training for innovation, food sufficiency and self-employment, as the institution also trains her students to be worthy in learning and character.”
