The Meta-owned instant messaging software, WhatsApp, is apparently unavailable.
Messages cannot now be sent or received on WhatsApp in Nigeria.
The WhatsApp outage was discovered a few minutes after 8:00 on Tuesday (WAT).
Sending messages to groups has been made impossible by the outage, while personal messages only show one tick, indicating that they have been sent but not received.
The platform was however restored at some few minutes to 10 O’clock in the morning.
Meanwhile, some respondents in Ibadan, Oyo State capital was of the opinion that viable alternative platforms such as WhatsApp was needed to reduce the effects of monopoly in online messaging platform.
