An accident involving a refuse disposal truck with the Oyo State Waste Management Agency, OYOWMA, a bus 10 seater commercial bus, a minivan and a commercial motorcyclist with two passengers had claimed the life of the rider.
Two of the passengers, a female serving corps member Ifedayo Ogunlana sustained serious injury and the second passenger, a male escaped death with minor bruises to his leg and arms were receiving medical treatment at a private hospital in Awotan.
Newsarena.ng reports that the road crash, which occurred at Awotan, Ibadan was caused by overspeeding of the truck and break failure.
According to a witness, the two other vehicles were parked by the roadside when the articulated truck rammed into them in an attempt to swerve off the road.
In the process, the truck also crushed the motorcyclist, whose corpse was evacuated to the Apete Police Divisional Station but later released to his relatives from Iseyin for burial.
The Divisional Police Officer, Apete, Mrs Grace Akinsehinwa confirmed that a suspect, who claimed to be the truck assistant driver was still in custody and helping with investigations.
The detained suspect had been rescued from being lynched by angry mob who condemned incessant cases of waste disposal truck accidents on the road.
