The Road transport Employee Association Of Nigeria, RTEAN has inaugurated its task force, codenamed “RTEAN Marshals” responsible for monitoring the conduct of members at motor parks.
The task force was inaugurated by the minister of state for transportation, Mrs Gbemisola Saraki and the national president of the association, Alhaji Muhammed Musa Maitokobi at the annual national match past of the association.
The event was aimed at sensitizing RTEAN members on the principles, ethics and conduct of the association to keep them updated on the rules guiding every registered member.
It is also to meet with stakeholders in the transportation sector with a view to synergizing on matters arising.
Newsarena.ng reports that Contingents from Oyo State was well represented at the event held at MKO Abiola Stadium, Abuja.
The RTEAN Marshal was commissioned to work with security agencies to wipe out all forms of touting and hooligalism in motor parks.”
National president of the association, Alhaji Muhammed Musa Maitokobi said “In article 3Hi of our constitution, we’re mandated not to encourage but rather work for total elimination of touting in all motor parks across the country”
Alhaji Maitokobi appreciated all state executives for their steadfastness in the face challenges in their domains.
He said “I’m aware that states like Oyo are being faced with challenges especially from their state government. Our members have not been working in Oyo state as a result of the park management system of the state government ”
“I’m using this medium to appeal to governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State to give due attention to our members in the state, and allow them to work for them to contribute their quota to the socioeconomic development of Oyo State and Nigeria in general” He explained.
Represented by the director road transport, Mrs Mary Udu Etembi, Minister of state for transportation, Gbemisola Saraki commended RTEAN for launching the marshal.
She said apart from creating security and safety and awareness in the nation’s motor parks, the marshal also creates employment opportunity for the teeming youths in the country.
“I want to assure you that we’re right behind you, we’re partners in progress in improving the road transport sector.”
“On behalf of the honourable minister of transport, I hereby commission the RTEAN Marshal to the glory of God.”
Earlier, Oyo State RTEAN Chairman, Mr Kamarudeen Idowu Owogesi also appealed to governor Makinde to extend his goodwill to the RTEAN in the state.
