The Ekiti State House of Assembly has been closed due to rumors that some persons were planning an invasion.
According to report, Police personnel were stationed in key areas of the House to prevent the breakdown of law and order.
Additionally, members of the Assembly’s staff could be seen leaving their places of work and heading home.
In an interview, some of the employees who do not want their names to be mentioned revealed that the State Police Headquarters had issued an order for staff to leave the assembly in the interest of peace because they believed some individuals were preparing an attack on the House of Assembly.
Chief Gboyega Aribisogan informed the press over the phone that the assembly had been taken over to prevent a crisis based on a police intelligence report and that things will soon return to normal in the house.
He said there would be a meeting later in the day with commissioner of police to know the next line action.
It would be recalled that chief Gboyega Aribisogan was elected as the new speaker of the assembly yesterday after defeated Mrs Olubunmi Adelugba from Emure Ekiti.
