JUST IN: CAF AWARDS – Oshoala Wins Player Of The Year For Record 5th Time

Nigeria’s Super star, Asisat Oshoala has won the 2022 African Women player of the year award.

The Super Falcons forward was handed the award at the 2022 Confederation of Africa football, CAF Awards ceremony held in Rabat, Morocco.

With this, Oshoala became the first African to win the prestigious award for a record five times, overtaking fellow country woman, Perpetua Nkwocha who claimed the accolade on four occasions.

Responding to the feat, Oshoala dedicated the award to the Super Falcons team.

Also at the ceremony, Senegalese star, Sadio Mane won the African men player of the year award for a second consecutive time.

In other categories, Senegalese Coach, Aliou Cisse won the African men Coach of the year, while Bayana Bayana of South Africa’s Coach bagged the African women Coach of the year.

Also, Senegal was named the National team of the year at the ceremony following their triumph at the last Africa Cup of Nations.

Earlier in an address of welcome, CAF’s President, Patrice Motsepe said the award ceremony was part of the Confederation’s ways of appreciating and showcasing Africa football.

The annual Caf Awards was last held in January 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic.
