A 500 level student of Obafemi Awolowo University, O.A.U, ile-ife has been beaten to death over alleged theft.
It was gathered that the student was alleged to have stolen a mobile phone at Awo hall in the school premises.
Consequently, an angry mob descended on the student and beat him to coma.
Speaking on the incident, the SUG president of the institution, Mr Folahan Olayiwole confirmed that the student passed away on Tuesday afternoon at the emergency unit of Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital following injuries sustained during the beatings.
Mr Olayiwole, who condemned the barbaric act maintained that the union did not support mob actions.
The SUG president said the union would ensure thorough investigations and arrest of all those involved in the unlawful killing.
As at the time of filing this report, all efforts to speak with the school authorities proved abortive.
