INEC To Begin Distribution Of New PVCs By Oct.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) says the newly registered voters would be able to collect their Permanent Voter’s Cards (PVCs) as from October.

INEC Chairman, Professor Mahmood Yakubu, made this known on Saturday at a programme tagged “Youth Vote Count” organised by a group of youths in Abuja.

The programme held at Old Parade Ground in Abuja was Amid at calling for the extension of the deadline for the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR).

It was also to use entertainment to educate young Nigerians on the importance of voting during elections.

Professor Yakubu said though INEC has continued to register more voters in their thousands especially as the initial deadline draws closer, the commission was considering extension.

He said efforts are also being made to ensure the availability of PVCs for the new registrants before October.

Professor Yakubu appealed to the youths to stop being social media politicians, rather they should exercise their franchise in the 2023 general election.

“While INEC is targeting to raise the number of registered voters across the country to at least 120 million in 2023, the commission registered a little above 84 million voters before the 2019 general elections.”

The event had in attendance 2 Baba, Cobhams Asuquo, Zlatan, Broda Shaggi, and Waje, among other entertainers who took turns to thrill fans at the event.
