A suspect has been detained, according to the Ogun State Police Command, in connection with the death of a couple who after returning from a cross-over New Year church service gave up the ghost when a suspicious fire broke out at their residence in Government Reservation Area, Ibara, Abeokuta.
Newsarena.ng also gathered that two children of the deceased were taken away by the suspected assailants.
According to Mr. Abimbola Oyeyemi, who is the state command’s spokesperson, an investigation has been launched to determine the circumstances of the occurrence.
Mr. Oyeyemi said one of the two children of the victims taken away by the suspected assailants has been recovered while search party has being intensified to rescue the second child.
The husband, Mr. Kehinde Fatinoye was reported to be a staff of the Central Bank of Nigeria, while the wife, Mrs. Bukola Fatinoye was a staff of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta before their gruesome murder
As at the time of this report, there was a crowd of sympathisers at the house where the incident happened .
Reacting to the incident, the spokesperson of FUNAAB, Kola Adepoju, described the death of the couple as ‘gruesome and a rude shock’ to the university community.
