Defending champions, Super Falcons of Nigeria recorded their first win at the ongoing African Women Cup of Nations, AWCON in Morocco after defeating the Mares of Botswana 2 goals to nil.
The Super Falcons, who had lost their first group game, produced a commanding display to earn all 3 points in last night’s encounter.
American born forward, Ifeoma Onumonu scored in the 21st minute to put Nigeria ahead, before substitute Christy Ucheibe made it 2-0 with a powerful headed in the 48th minute.
Super Falcons are now second in Group C, behind Bayana Bayana of South Africa, who had earlier thrash Burundi 3 goals to 1 to make it two wins out of two games.
