A specialised syndicate has been apprehended by men of the Ondo State Security network popularly known as Amotekun Corps, for allegedly snatching and dismantling of motorbikes in some states in the Southwest region.
The syndicate usually operated within Ondo, Osun and Ogun states where he snatched motorbikes from owners at gunpoint and took to its hideout around Iwaraja on Ilesa-Akure highway where the Okadas were dismantled before selling them.
Parading the syndicate alongside other suspects in Akure, the Amotekun Corps Commander, Chief Adetunji Adeleye disclosed that a member of the syndicate, Olamide Wasiu aged 35, from Osogbo, Osun State, had confessed to the crime while others are still on the run.
According to Chief Adeleye, another four-man armed robbery and kidnap syndicate were arrested by the Amotekun officers.
He said crime rate in Ondo State dropped drastically in the last three months, commending stakeholders especially the media for supporting the security network in fighting crimes.
