Alleged Attackers Of Oyetola’s Wife Arraigned On Four Count Charge

Osun State Police Command has arraigned seven persons before an Osogbo Magistrate Court, for allegedly attacking wife of the state Governor, Mrs Kafayat Oyetola.

The defendants whose ages range between 19 and 40 are: Omolola Paul, Rasaki Hammed, Soliu Waheed, Tiamiyu Basiru, Olayiwola John,, Owoade Mutiu, and Ibrahim Tunde.

They were arraigned on four-count charge bordering on conspiracy, felony, serious assault and malicious damage.

Addressing the court, Police Prosecutor, Inspector Asanbe Kayode informed that the suspectes with others at large caused breach of public peace by attacking wife of Osun state governnor, Mrs oyetola and inflicted injuries on her aide Mr. Benson Oyebode and a DSS officer, Mr. Femi Alabi by throwing stone on them.

He added that the defendants unlawfully damaged the glass of three vehicles in the first lady’s convoy on 19th of this month at about 8pm at Owode market, Ede.

The alleged offences according to the Prosecutor are contrary to and punishable under Section 516, 249, 451(b), 356(2) of the Criminal Code Cap 34 Vol. II laws of Osun State of Nigeria 2002.

But, the accused persons pleaded not guilty to the allegations levelled against them.

Thereafter, the Defence Counsel, S.A Gbenle pleaded for the accused and urged the court to grant them bail,noting that they would be available when the court needs them.

The presiding magistrate, I.R Salami, granted their bail in the sum of #500,000 and two sureties in like sum.

The case was adjourned to 26th September, 2022 for hearing.
