Cannabis Worth Millions Of Naira Intercepted In Ogun

The Nigerian Customs Service has intercepted and relinquished more than a hundred Sacks of Cannabis Sativa worth about ninety eight million naira to the Nigeria Drugs Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, in Ogun State.

The Customs Area Controller, Ogun One Area Command, Mr Bamidele Makinde Made this known to journalists in Abeokuta as part of the First Quarter Activities of the Command for this year.

Mr Bamidele stated that the handing over of the substance was a reflection of the collaboration between the Command and other Sister Agencies in the efforts to safeguard the youths from Harmful drugs capable of endangering their lives and the Environment.

The Customs Area Controller explained that the Command also generated more than Forty four Million naira during the period under review, representing about five point five Million Naira higher than the amount generated within the same period last year and recorded seizures, including twenty one trailer loads of foreign rice.

Receiving the Narcotics on behalf of the NDLEA, Ogun State Command, the Commander in charge of Narcotics, Ibiba Odili commended the partnership towards checking illicit drugs use and trafficking.

Mr Odili said the Drug Use Survey of Twenty Eighteen had rated the South West, including Ogun State as the zone with the highest Prevalence of Drugs Abuse, noting that all hands must be on deck to stem the tides.
