UPDATED: Gov. Makinde To Set Up Governing Board For State-Owned First Technical University

Oyo state governor, Seyi Makinde has announced the re-naming of the First Technical University, Ibadan to Senator Abiola Ajimobi First Technical University.

The governor disclosed this on Friday at the institution’s 2nd Convocation Ceremony held at Tech-U Library Hall, Lagos Ibadan expressway.

The governor, who also serves as the university’s Visitor, said that since its beginnings, the school has come a long way.

“Looking at this, today is a good day to honour my predecessor, who established the university. As a result, we have decided to change the name of the institution to Sen. Abiola Ajimobi First Technical University, Ibadan, Makinde said.

He added that his administration would put the Governing Council of the institution in place before the end of April 2023.

He equally approved a “Category 3 Primary Health Centre” for the university.

Speaking on some of his administration’s achievements in the education sector, Makinde said access to education, including university education, has improved.
