More Reactions Trail Tinubu’s Victory At Presidential Poll

The outcome of Last Saturday’s Presidential election is an indication of the consolidation of Nigeria’s democracy.

This was the submission of a Former National Commissioner of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Professor Lai Olurode while reacting to the emergence of the All Progressives Congress, APC flag bearer, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu as the winner of the 2023 Presidential election.

Speaking with newsarena.ng, Professor Olurode said though hiccups were experienced during the process, the force of democratisation prevailed at the end.

Professor Olurode noted that the task before the President-Elect was enormous and first on his priority list should be how to restore national unity.

Professor Olurode said he believed Asiwaju Tinubu had the experience to successfully tackle the tasks ahead when he assumed office.

Professor Olurode explained that, apart from the inability of INEC to electronically transmit results as promised, the commission did it’s best to ensure a credible poll.

The Former INEC National Commissioner, however, advised the electoral umpire to go back to the drawing board and perfect all the hitches experienced ahead of the March 11 Governorship and Houses of Assembly elections.

In the same vein, the All Progressives Congress, APC in Oyo state has described the emergence of the party’s Presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu as the winner of Last Saturday’s election, as a victory for Nigeria.

The Publicity Secretary of the party in the state, Alhaji Wasiu Sadare stated this in an interview with Radio Nigeria in Ibadan shortly after the Independent National Electoral Commission announced the results of the Presidential poll.

Alhaji Sadare admitted that though the journey was not easy, but God through the votes of Nigerians gave Asiwaju Tinubu the deserved victory at the polls.

The Oyo APC Publicity Secretary appreciated Nigerians for using their votes Last Saturday to renew the hopes of a better Nigeria.

On his part, the Oyo state chairman of the Social Democratic party, SDP, Mr Michael Okunlade, while congratulating the winner of the presidential election, described Last Saturday’s polls as fair but not free.

Mr Okunlade called on the Independent National Electoral Commission to learn from the problems encountered during the Presidential and National Assembly elections, to be able to deliver a free and credible elections, come 11th of March.

It would be recalled that the All Progressives Congress APC, Presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu polled 8,794,726 votes to win the 2023 Presidential election as announced by the INEC chairman, Professor Mahmood Yakubu early this morning.
