According to the Airline Operators of Nigeria (AON), due to the shortage of aviation fuel, also known as JET-A1, customers may witness delays in the operation of scheduled flights.
Professor Obiora Okonkwo, the organization’s spokesperson, said in a statement that the Jet A1 shortage had resumed few days ago.
According to Mr Okonkwo, the shortage will undoubtedly compel airlines to reschedule flights, which could result in delayed departures or cancellations.
In Okonkwo’s opinion, this unforeseen development is a hassle for airline operators and a stain on the sector, particularly during this period of high travel volume for the Christmas and New Year’s celebrations.
He however assured that, members of the AON will do their utmost to manage the situation and ensure safe flight operations, while pleading the understanding of the traveling public in the circumstance.
The AON also called on the concerned authorities including product importers and marketers to do their best to resolve this ugly situation so as to ease the stress it brings on the travelling public.
The body added that, they remain committed to doing all that is necessary to ensure seamless services and safe air travels in the country.
