Members of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) from Wards 1 to 12 in Ibadan North Local Government Area of Oyo State have defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC), pledging their support for the party.
The defectors, led by the Chairman of Chairmen in Ibadan North, Alfa Shehu Usman of Ward 2, were formally received by prominent APC leaders at the Aviation Hall of SDM Tavern Hotel, Ibadan.
Those who received the new members included Prince Niran Adeyoju (SDM), Hon. Wasiu Emiola, Alhaji Teslim Aderibigbe Omilabu Gahndi, Alhaja Tinu Adigun, Hon. Akeem, Hon. Adepeju Esan, Prince Gbadebo, Hon. Akinyemi Jubril Esho and Dr. Gafar.
Welcoming the defectors, Prince Niran Adeyoju and other APC leaders assured them of equal treatment, fairness and an inclusive atmosphere within the party.
They emphasised that every member would be given a sense of belonging, irrespective of when they joined the party, adding that the APC remained open to individuals willing to contribute to its growth and development.
The leaders also expressed confidence that the new members would strengthen the party’s structure and political fortunes in Ibadan North Local Government.
The defection is expected to further boost the APC’s grassroots presence in the local government as the party continues to consolidate its membership and political base ahead of future electoral contests.
