The lawmaker representing Ibadan North Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Folajimi Oyekunle (DON), has congratulated Nigerians on the occasion of the country’s 66th Independence Anniversary, calling for renewed patriotism, unity and commitment to building a better Nigeria.
In a goodwill message marking the anniversary, Oyekunle urged Nigerians to reflect on the journey of the nation since independence and remain committed to the ideals of democracy, justice, equity and good governance.
The federal lawmaker also called on citizens to hold their elected leaders accountable for their promises and responsibilities, stressing that democratic participation should go beyond elections.
He urged Nigerians to use their votes wisely and speak through the ballot box in the common interest of the people, particularly the underprivileged and vulnerable members of society.
According to him, leadership must remain centred on improving the lives of citizens, creating opportunities for young people, strengthening education and healthcare, and providing the infrastructure and social support needed to improve the standard of living.
Oyekunle further encouraged Nigerians to remain hopeful and actively contribute to the development of the country, noting that the responsibility of building a prosperous nation rests not only with government officials but also with citizens.
He reaffirmed his commitment to effective representation and people-oriented initiatives in Ibadan North Federal Constituency, while urging Nigerians to continue to support efforts aimed at promoting national development, unity and inclusive governance.
He wished Nigerians a peaceful and prosperous 66th Independence Anniversary, calling for greater unity and collective responsibility towards building a Nigeria where every citizen has an opportunity to thrive.
