Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde has visited the 2 Division Nigerian Army Hospital, Odogbo, Ibadan, where the 44 school children and teachers recently released from captivity in Oriire Local Government Area are currently receiving medical attention.

The Governor, who expressed satisfaction with their condition, said the children and their teachers were responding well to treatment and were in a stable condition.

While expressing optimism that the released victims would soon be reunited with their families,Governor Makinde disclosed that arrangements were underway to allow some of the victims to meet with their parents and loved ones as part of the post-traumatic recovery process aimed at helping them recover emotionally from the experience.

Governor Makinde commended the Nigerian Army and other security agencies for their professionalism, commitment and coordinated efforts that led to the safe rescue of the victims.
The Governor also appreciated the people of Oyo State for their support, patience and understanding, promising to provide further updates on the rescue operation and other related engagements in the coming days.
He urged residents to recognise that security challenges are not peculiar to any society, stressing the need for citizens to look beyond political, ethnic and other differences whenever challenges arise and work together towards finding lasting solutions.
Some of the personalities who visited the medical facility at the 2 Division Nigerian Army Barracks, Odogbo, Ibadan,included the Soun of Ogbomoso, Oba Ghandi Olaoye; Senator representing Oyo North Senatorial District, Senator Fatai Buhari and Oyo State Commissioner of Police, CP Olugbenga Abimbola.
