The Nigeria Police force, Oyo state Command has arrested two suspects found in possession of two hundred and fifty live cartridges.

The suspects, Thirty-five-year-old Ganiyu Sodiq and twenty-three-year-old Salaudeen Sheriff, both residents of Komu, were apprehended at Budo Pako, Oke- Òyán, following a targeted intelligence-led operation by police operatives.

According to the command Public Relations Officer, DSP Olayinka Ayanlade, preliminary investigations show the suspects could not provide a lawful explanation for the ammunition which made the Police believe the duo were involved in trafficking and supplying ammunition to criminal networks within and outside the state.

The suspects were immediately put in custody while efforts were on going to track down their collaborators and sources.
Meanwhile, the State Commissioner of Police, Mr Olugbemiga Abimbola, has reiterated the command’s commitment to wiping out illegal arms, which he noted were major drivers of crime
