Oyo State Police Command has successfully apprehended suspended armed robbers and recovered weapons, stolen items, and cash in Ibadan.

The arrests were made following intelligence-led stop-and-search operations conducted by police operatives patrolling the General Gas area of Akobo.

According to a statement released by Police Public Relations Officer, Olayinka Ayanlade, one of the suspects identified as Abiodun Adeyemi Michael attempted to flee upon sighting the operatives but was pursued and subsequently arrested.

A search conducted on Michael led to the recovery of a Magnum pump-action gun with six live cartridges, several mobile phones of different brands, a Wi-Fi device, a power bank, a radio set, four wristwatches, and a cash sum of one hundred and thirty thousand naira (N130,000).
During interrogation, Michael allegedly confessed to carrying out robbery operations with three accomplices around the Toll Gate and Egbeda areas of Ibadan.
Following his confession, police operatives led by the Divisional Police Officer of Akobo Division moved to a meeting point at a Hotel in the Onipepeye area of Iwo Road.
There, two other suspects, Olaoluwa Pamole and Ahmed Ismail, were arrested.
Another suspect identified as Lamidi, managed to escape.
The suspects also confessed to snatching a Honda car in Abeokuta, Ogun State.
However, the Commissioner of Police in Oyo State, Femi Haruna directed that the case be transferred to the Command Monitoring Unit for further investigation and prosecution.
The recovery of weapons and stolen items is a significant breakthrough and will undoubtedly help to deter further criminal activities in the state.
In a related development, the
Command apprehended two suspects and recovered a stolen Bajaj motorcycle following a swift operation led by the Ile-Ido Divisional Headquarters.
The breakthrough occurred after a local resident, identified as Mr. Olaoye, alerted the police that his red motorcycle had been spotted hidden in an uncompleted building in the Ariyon area, along the Ologuneru–Ido Road.
