Former Super Eagles Coach Festus Onigbinde Dies

A former Head Coach of the Nigeria national football team, High Chief Festus Adegboye Onigbinde, has passed away, according to a family announcement released on Monday night.


The announcement, issued on behalf of the family by Mrs. Bolade Adesuyi, said the renowned football tactician died a few minutes before the statement was made public.

The family expressed gratitude to God for what it described as a fulfilled life marked by remarkable service to Nigeria and the global football community.

High Chief Onigbinde, a respected traditional title holder from Modakeke, was widely known for his pioneering role in Nigerian football and for being among the earliest indigenous coaches to manage the national team.

During his career, the veteran coach contributed immensely to the development of football in Nigeria, earning recognition for nurturing talents and promoting professionalism in the sport.

The family prayed for the repose of his soul and thanked well-wishers for their support, noting that details of the funeral arrangements will be announced at a later date.
