Anniversary: Our Lady Of Apostle, Bishop Philips Grammar Sch’l Shine At 4th HOSEC Foundation Oratory Contest
Isaac Blessing of Our Lady of Apostle Secondary School, Ibadan has won the 4th Hope For Second Chance Foundation oratory contest, an event commemorating the 7th anniversary of the foundation.
Also after the contest, Adeyemo Roheema of Bishop Phillips Grammar School, Ibadan emerged first runner up while Omolade Frances of Our Lady of Apostle Secondary Grammar School came third.

The winners emerged from about twelve public schools within Ibadan that made it to the final stage of the contest.

Earlier in an address, the Executive Director, Hope For Second Chance Foundation, a non governmental organization established for the advocacy of children and women, Mrs Ibukunoluwa Otesile emphasized the need for stakeholders to give children and youths the confidence to communicate, lead and advocate.
Mrs Otesile said “voice is power, expression is liberation and oratory is one of the most potent tools for change”
“Communication is a skill that everyone of us must not just acquire, but take constant and deliberate efforts to master and that’s why we decided that, one of the life skills we want to begin to teach our children is oratory, effective communication and how can we do that, let’s bring them together, give them topics and let them have conversation around it.”
Speaking on the theme of the contest, “Breaking the chain: Character Building, Ethical Leadership and Accountability As Tools For Preventing Youth Involvement In Financial Crimes” Mrs. Otesile said the aim was to involve the children in the advocacy against financial crimes among youths.
In a goodwill message, Oyo state commissioner for Education, Mr Olusegun Olayiwola represented by a director from the Ibadan zone-one education inspectorate, Mrs Titilola Omotosho commended HOSEC Foundation’s commitment in shaping the future of the youths through ethical leadership.
Mr. Olayiwola said the state under the leadership of governor Seyi Makinde will continue to invest in education to ensure academic excellence of students in the state.
Also speaking, the Chief Executive Officer, My E-Currency, Mr Akinremi Damilola appealed to the students to be hardworking, trustworthy and make positive impact in their lifetime.
Newsarena.ng reports that the overall winner of the contest got a laptop prize while the winners in the second and third positions had a tablet each.
The winners would also get free WAEC and UTME forms and opportunities to involve in other oratory contests within and outside the state.
