The Oyo State Police Command has issued a stern warning against the circulation of false and misleading information regarding the resurfacing of decade-old footage depicting human remains in the Soka area of Ibadan.
The police emphasized that individuals found spreading unverified reports capable of inciting panic will face strict sanctions, regardless of their affiliations or connections.

In a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Osifeso Adewale, and made available to journalists on Sunday, March 2, the Command addressed the viral footage, which originally documented the grim discovery of human parts at an abandoned warehouse in Soka, under the Ibadan North East Local Government Area.
It was disclosed by the police that the incident, which occurred ten years ago, led to extensive investigations and subsequent enhancements in the state’s security framework.
“The treated footage, which captured a series of unfortunate incidents at the time, led to escalated investigations, resulting in a deliberate upgrade of the State’s security architecture.
“The Command assured residents that in collaboration with sister security agencies and neighboring commands, proactive and robust security measures have been put in place to prevent any recurrence of such events.
To maintain public peace across the state, the police urged members of the public to desist from spreading outdated and unverified information that could cause unnecessary panic.
“Moving forward, the Oyo State Police Command passionately appeals to members of the public to refrain from spreading unverified and incorrect information capable of creating panic and disrupting public order in the State, as there will be strict sanctions for defaulters, regardless of association or affiliation,” the statement warned.
The police further encouraged residents to report any suspicious activities, reassuring them that swift action would be taken.
“Citizens in need of emergency assistance can reach the Oyo State Call Response Center via the toll-free line 615 or contact the Police Command Control Room through the following numbers: 08081768614, 09054133071, and 09061299291.
