SSANU, NASU Members Throw Sachet Water On Leaders In Lagos

During a demonstration on Wednesday, members of the University of Lagos branch of the Joint Action Committee of Non-Academic Staff Union and Senior Staff Association of Nigeria Universities heckled and tossed sachets of purified water at their leaders.

The JAC of SSANU/NASU leadership reportedly invited all of its members nationwide to resume on Wednesday in a statement released on Saturday.

The UNILAG branch members, however, objected to the strike’s suspension.

The JAC of NASU and SSANU embarked on national industrial action on March 27, 2022 and called it off on August 20, 2022.

When interviewed by reporters, some SSANU and NASU JAC members said that a congress was supposed to have taken place prior to the strike’s postponement.

The disgruntled UNILAG members carried a number of placards that read, among other things, “NASU SSANU say, no salary, no resumption,” “We have no confidence in the national leaders of NASU/SSANU,” “We are tired of general secretary, Adeyemi Peters and Mohammed Ibrahim of SSANU, they must go!” and “We are civil servants, not slaves.”
