Ido Osun Community in Egbedore Local Government Area of Osun State has protested against the decision of Governor Ademola Adeleke to relocate the ongoing M.K.O Abiola Airport project to Ede.
The Traditional Chiefs, leaders and other indigenes of the town led by the Eesa of Ido-Osun, Chief Oyewale Basiru, former lawmaker of the Osun state house of Assembly, Mr. Abiodun Awolola gathered at the palace for the protest.
They carried placards with inscriptions including: ‘Is Adeleke governor of Ede or Osun State?’, ‘We say no to favouritism’, ‘Give us back our airport’, ‘Relocating the airport to your hometown is nepotistic’, ‘This is not what you promised us’ among others.
Speaking on behalf of the community, Mr Abiodun Awolola frowned at the decision of the State Government to relocate the ongoing airport project which over N20bn had been expended on it by past administration.
He stressed that the decision is unacceptable and unjust, as it undermines the rights and interests of the people of Ido-Osun.
Mr. Awolola urged President Bola Tinubu to prevail on the State Governor, against relocating the airport to his hometown and ordered his ministers not to grace any foundation laying of the new project in Ede.
Recall that the Secretary to the State Government, Mr.Teslim Igbalaye while announcing the activities for Governor Adeleke’s second anniversary, said the Governor alongside Works and Aviation Ministers; Mr. David Umahi, and Mr Festus Keyamo would flag the foundation laying of the new airport at Ede.
