Police Parades Suspected Kidnapper Terrorising Private University In Oyo

Adebowale Williams, the commissioner of police for Oyo State, has detained a man who is accused of planning to kidnapping some pupils at a private institution in Oyo Town.

The suspect was detained for a variety of crimes, including kidnapping, robbery, car snatching, and other associated criminal offenses, and was paraded at the police headquarters in Eleyele, Ibadan, among other accused criminals.

According to the Commissioner, Adekunle Olarinde, a known kidnapping syndicate, threatened to kidnap three of the institution’s pupils in a “Hand-Written” note to the management of the institution if the management did not pay-up Ten Million Naira within a specified amount of time.

The Oyo CP pointed out that the threat, as was to be expected, hindered academic activity at the university and caused anxiety and fear among the student body.

Speaking through the police public relations officer, Mr. Olawale Osifeso, the police commissioner stated that following the receipt of the tip, discreet forensic-based investigations were conducted, which resulted in the arrest of one Azeez Mufutau, whose contact information was written on the handwritten notes sent to the institution’s management.

Mr. Williams added that in order to invade the branch office later in the week, the gang decided to send a similar handwritten notification to one located in Owode Area, Oyo, of a New Generation Bank.

“in making the State undesirable and inhabitable for criminally minded and other  unscrupulous elements with the adoption of distinctive and multifaceted crime tackling approach premised on improved communal partnerships and technology aided inquiries.”

He pointed out that the threat, as was to be expected, hindered academic activity at the university and caused anxiety and fear among the student body.

Along with the alleged kidnapper, other suspected offenders were paraded, and they all admitted the accusations made against them and begged for forgiveness.

Their crime involved kidnapping and robbery, and their victims were six traders who were taken into a dense forest, stripped of their belongings, including eight cell phones and 180 kegs of palm oil worth $3,600,000, and transported off.

EXHIBITS found with the suspects included: .ONE DOUBLE BARREL LOCALLY MADE GUN, ONE LIVE CARTRIDGE,ONE MAZDA BUS, TOYOTA COROLLA CAR WITH REG NO SMK 330 FD.
