Fubara Approves New Minimum Wage For Rivers Workers

A minimum salary of N85,000 has been approved by the Rivers State Government for the state’s civil servants.

During a private meeting with labour leaders and high-ranking government officials, George Nwaeke, the state’s head of service, declared that Governor Siminalayi Fubara had given his consent to the new wage.

Nwaeke reaffirmed after the meeting that, the new minimum wage will be implemented immediately.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Joint Negotiation Team, Chukwu Emecheta has commended Governor Fubara for meeting the expectations of Rivers State workers.

He expressed appreciation for the Governor’s commitment to the workforce.

On his part, Chairman, Rivers state Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, Alex Agwanwor, noted that the minimum wage will greatly alleviate the economic hardships faced by workers in the state.
