Amidst the leadership crisis rocking the National Working Committee of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, the party has fixed Saturday, November 2, 2024 for the official commissioning of its newly built Olusoji Adagunodo South West Zonal Secretariat in Ibadan.
This is contained in a special announcement shared by the Acting national publicity secretary, Hon. Ibrahim Abdullahi Manga on the verified X handle of the party @OfficialPDPNig on Monday.
It states that the leaders of the party in the South West Zone, H.E. Engr. Seyi Makinde and his colleague, H.E. Sen. Ademola Adeleke will welcome the Acting National Chairman of the party, HE. Amb. Illiya Umar Damagum to the Commissioning of the newly built Olusoji Adagunodo South West Zonal Secretariat.
It is also expected that the party’s leadership at the Zonal and state levels would be in attendance at the event scheduled to hold at 10 O’Clock in the morning at the Olusoji Adagunodo South West Zonal Secretariat, Ibadan.
Recall that moments after the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Working Committee headed by the Acting National Chairman, Illiya Damagum announced the suspension of the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba and the National Legal Adviser, Kamaldeen Ajibade, another statement signed by Debo Ologunagba announced the suspension of the PDP Acting National Chairman, Damagum and the national secretary, Samuel Anyanwu.
PDP’s NWC had suspended Ologunagba and Ajibade over allegations of disloyalty and insubordination levelled against them.
But in a twist, however, Ologunagba, in a statement also announced the suspension of Damagum and Anyanwu.
The statement read in part, “The National Working Committee (NWC) of the PDP has extensively considered the series of complaints raised against the Acting National Chairman, Amb. Illiya Damagum and National Secretary, Sen. Samuel Anyanwu particularly with regard to the letter addressed by them to the Court of Appeal in Appeal No:CA/PH/307/2024 against the party’s position in the case involving the 27 former members of the Rivers State House of Assembly who vacated their seats upon decamping from the PDP to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
