Install GPS Tracking Devices On Security Patrol Vehicles For Improve Service Delivery – Oyo Assembly Urges Executive

The Oyo State House of Assembly has appealed to the State Government to put measures in place towards installing GPS (Global Positioning System) tracking devices on Security Patrol Vehicles donated to the various Security Agencies.

This is to monitor locations and movements of all Patrol vehicles any time of the day to enhance service delivery and safety of officers as well as ensure quick responses.

According to the Motion, there is also the need for more Patrol vehicles to be deployed at nights when most crimes are usually being committed, and this will make it difficult for criminals to have their way.

The Motion read in part ” While security agencies have been making commendable efforts in curbing crimes and maintaining law and order, there is still room for improvement. The rate at which crime occurs in Oyo State remains disturbing particularly at night. Stealing, kidnapping, Armed robberies and gang violence happen despite security surveillance hence the State Government needs to introduce advance technology like the GPS.”

Hon. Olalere in one of the resolutions urged the Executive arm of Government through the State Ministry of Information and Orientation and the Broadcasting Corporation of Oyo State, BCOS to increase public awareness about the toll free line “615” which is available 24hours for residents to report emergencies.

The call was contained in a Motion read on the floor of the House on Thursday by member representing Ibadan North West State Constituency, Hon. Dawood Olalere and co-sponsored by the leader of the House, Hon. Sanjo Adedoyin.
