Osun PDP Accuses APC, Gov. Oyetola Of Inciting Violent Attacks In Ede
Overcome Woes Of Your Electoral Defeat - Osun PDP To Oyetola
The All Progressives Congress, APC’s outgoing administration in Osun State is being accused of inciting violent attacks in various parts of the state, particularly in Ede, the hometown of the incoming governor, Senator Nurudeen Jackson Ademola Adeleke.
According to the Osun State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, in a statement by the chairman CTC, Dr Akindele Adekunlethe, PDP characterized the planned attacks as extremely regrettable, evil, and embarrassing attempts by a deposed administration to vent its resentment on helpless individuals.
The Peoples Democratic Party members who had gathered for a regular ward meeting in the town were alledgely attacked by hoodlums who were alledged to be working for the vanquished APC on Friday, according to reports from Ede North Local Government.
The minority leader of the Osun State House of Assembly, Hon. Adewunmi Kofoworola Babajide, attended the ward meeting.
A one-year-old infant who was forcibly pulled off of her mother’s back and murdered by the thugs was among the victims of the incident, according to preliminary reports as disclosed by the State Chapter of the PDP.
Houses owned by Minority Leader Hon. Kofoworola were also destroyed, and it is still unknown what became of his father, who was inside one of the destroyed homes at the time of the attack.
“The PDP is requesting that the Mr. Adegboyega Oyetola-led APC government refrain from allowing the disappointment over the recent governorship election loss to eat deeply into the fabric of state governance, or at the very least, resign immediately if the defeated governor has so badly lost his composure as the state’s chief security officer.”
The PDP urges the people of Osun State to maintain their composure and exercise caution because it will cooperate with the appropriate security agencies to bring those responsible for the terrible crime to justice.
“Security agencies are also enjoined to as a matter of duty and professional proactivity, set machineries in motion to arrest the rising wave of violence in the state, in which citizens are being assassinated in broad daylight with brazen audacity. This is with a view to preventing violent reprisals from victims’ relatives and attendant escalations.”
The PDP further calls on well meaning Nigerians, especially traditional institutions to reign in on the defeated governor of Osun State, Governor Adegboyega Oyetola to stay alive to his primary responsibilities to the state and stop stoking violent attacks on innocent residents, whose verdict at the poll had obviously gone the wrong side of his expectations.
