Disparity In Price Causes Uproar Among Pepper Sellers In Ibadan

There was uproar at the ogunpa market yesterday following an altercation between members of the pepper traders association and a pepper seller over allegation of selling below general price.

The association alleged that the woman, Adeola Arisekola was selling a plate of scotch bonnet popularly called rodo between 200 and 500 naira while others were selling same portion for 500 and 1,000 naira within the same market

It was gathered that Mrs Arisekola was alledgedly assaulted by some of the association’s leaders.

The victim, Mrs. Arisekola, explained that she still make over six thousand naira daily profit with the price she sells the commodity.

Speaking for the association, the compliance officer, Mrs Mujidat Akinpelu, explained that though prices of pepper had come down but not as cheap as claimed by the victim.

Meanwhile, the president, Ogunpa Central International Market Traders Association, Prince Gbenga Atitebi has imposed a ban on pepper traders association in the market.

Also in an interview, the baale of the Ogunpa Central Market, Alhaji Nurudeen Inaolaji said the incident had exposed the outrageous and unreasonable hike in prices of goods in the market.
